Padparadscha sapphire is the most unique type of sapphire. With it's pinky-orange to orangy-pink colour, these sapphires are beautiful in any piece of jewellery.
We have the pleasure to be able to offer a Padparadscha sapphire and diamond ring, set in platinum with 18ct rose gold claw mount. For full description of this piece, follow this link: Padparadscha sapphire ring halo set diamond platinum cluster (russell-lane.co.uk)
Padparadscha sapphires owe their unique colour to iron and chromium elements within it's crystal structure. Unlike blue sapphires, which are coloured by a mixture of iron and titanium. The name' Padparadscha' comes from ancient Sunskirt word meaning 'Lotus flower'.
The biggest deposit of these unique stones is in Sri Lanka, with smaller deposits in Madagascar and Tanzania.
